This map is inspired by the Second Siege of Tobruk, which took place on June 20th, 1942—a pivotal event that saw the British defences fall within a single day. Tobruk proved to be a deeply rewarding map to develop, blending dense urban combat zones with vast, open desert landscapes.
For the latest Hell Let Loose map, Tobruk, my responsibilities focused on the rural northern control points: “West Creek,” “Desert Rat Caves,” “Abandoned Ammo Cache,” and “Road to Senussi Mine.” I also contributed to shaping the dry creek beds leading into the urban areas, designing the docks lining the southern edge of the map, and creating a variety of unique assets including water towers and bridges.
I’d like to give special thanks to the incredibly talented Environment Art and Level Design teams, as well as all the other disciplines at Expression Games who played a part in bringing Tobruk to life as part of Update 17 for Hell Let Loose.
